SocialPersonalityHave you become part of a social media cliché?

Have you become so predictable that  your friends know what to expect from your keystrokes, posts, and comments?

Safer Online by Microsoft challenges you to think of this before you post — since it will be there a long, long time.

Are you hashtag hyper?  Do you LIKE collecting clicks?  Are you a soap box chatter? Are you a social  media stalker?  Are you all about kid pictures?  Are you a Debbie Downer?

Exactly how do you look online?  Yes it matters.  It will be there a long time.

Online reputation is a priority for students and just about anyone that is mingling with the public.  Whether you are applying for jobs, online dating, looking for a service such as a plumber or electrician  — chances are very good your name will be put through an Internet wash-cycle.  How it spins out will determine if you are invited to the next step in many situations.

Digital citizenship is imperative at all ages.  Your online behavior will effect your future.  It is not up for debate.  Today digital trails will be the first impression most people will have of you.  As the old saying goes – you don’t get a second chance for a first impression.

Social media is not a scrapbook, diary or journal.  Do you feel like venting?  Buy notebook and a pen – and write it down, put it under your bed – or someplace safe.  Cyberspace is not known for privacy.
